Louis T. Brindisi was born in Utica, New York on October 20, 1934 and has lived there all his life, having attended local grammar schools and high school. He attended LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in 1956.
In 1959, he graduated from Albany Law School with a Juris Doctor Degree and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1960. After law school, he became a partner in the Murad & Brindisi Law Firm, which later became the Murad, Brindisi & Garramone Law Firm. His partner, John L. Murad, later became a New York State Supreme Court Judge, now retired, and his other partner, Anthony Garramone, later became Chief Judge of Utica City Court, also now retired.
After law school, he was married to Jacqueline Brindisi, now deceased, and had five children, two of which, Eva Brindisi Pearlman and Anthony Brindisi, have become lawyers and are now partners in the law firm that bears their names.
Presently, he is married to Barbara Brindisi and they have one son, Louis T. Brindisi, Jr. With 48 years of trial experience, he has handled thousands of cases, both civil and criminal. In his criminal law practice, he has successfully tried cases involving almost every major felony in both State and Federal Courts and has obtained acquittals in cases ranging from Murder to Manslaughter and Assault; Robbery; Burglary; Grand Larceny; Gambling; Rape; Counterfeiting; Money Laundering; Ricco and Conspiracy. As well as crimes involving criminal violations of the Interstate Commerce Laws and other felonies too numerous to mention.
In 1986, he was admitted to the Florida State Bar.
During the 1970's, he was an Assistant Corporation Counsel and Chief Litigator in all cases brought against the City of Utica, New York, which included everything from negligence actions to certiorari and land claims.
Lou has handled thousands of civil cases. His practice is now limited to the trial of serious personal injury and wrongful death cases and his firm has achieved numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements.
His serious injury cases have included everything from brain injuries; birth defects; amputations; quadriplegics; paraplegics; and those suffering severe disfiguring burns.
He has handled defective product cases involving SUV rollovers; tire defects; seatbelt failure; air bag injuries; seat back collapse; and roof crush injuries.
Also, cases involving failure to warn and other design and manufacturing defects. He has tried cases involving Federal Employer Liability Act; elevator crashes; medical malpractice; legal malpractice; discrimination; slip and falls; construction accidents; nursing home negligence.
In 2008, he was joined by two new partners, Robert F. Julian, a former New York State Supreme Court Justice, and Richard Pertz, a Law Clerk to former Supreme Court Justice, Robert F. Julian.
Lou is a member of the American Bar Association; Oneida County Bar Association (where he has lectured attorneys for CLE credits); New York State Bar Association; Florida Bar Association; American Association for Justice (Past ATLA District Governor updating national decisions of Courts from the field of medical malpractice, products liability and personal injury); New York State Trial Lawyers; New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers; National Board of Trial Advocates, where he holds the rank of Advocate; Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, as well as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Membership into The American Trial Lawyers Association is by invitation and is extended only to those attorneys who exemplify superior qualifications, trial results, leadership, influence, reputation, stature and profile in the trial attorney community, as viewed by their organization, other trial lawyers, members of the bench and the public at large. The American Trial Lawyers Association has conducted the necessary investigation and diligent evaluation of his qualifications for invitation as one of its exclusive members.
He has been named by Lawdragon as one of the top 3000 Plaintiff's Attorneys in America.
He is also named as a New York State Super Lawyer. Only five percent of the attorneys in Upstate New York are named to the list. He has also been named as one of the top 100 Trial Lawyers in New York State by the American Trial Lawyers Association.
The Association is a national organization composed of the top 100 trial lawyers from each state.
