What is Firefighting Foam?
Aqueous film-forming foam or AFFF, is used to extinguish growing fires. The foam contains fire-retardant chemicals, called PFAS, that are grease, oil, water, and heat resistant. The same chemicals have been proven to result in serious health conditions including a long list of cancers. PFAS has been found to build up within the body after long exposure and result in life-threatening complications.
Occupations at Risk
Firefighting foam is toxic and has put our local firefighting departments at risk for the development of cancer and other side effects. Additional occupations including military personnel, airport workers, and fuel firefighters are at risk of developing AFFF-related cancers as well. Those who worked day-in and day-out protecting their communities from dangerous situations are at the highest risk of life-altering health problems.
Side Effects & Cancers Associated
Exposure to AFFF has resulted in the following cancers as well as thyroid disease, liver disease, and other complications.
- Kidney cancer
- Thyroid cancer
- Prostate cancer
- Testicular cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
Have you been diagnosed with cancer after exposure to Firefighting Foam?
As a firefighter, the last thing on your mind should be cancer. After devoting your life to helping others, you now have to cope with an aggressive disease due to hazardous chemicals. You have a right to be angry with those who put you at risk of developing severe medical complications. Three manufacturers of firefighter foam have recently faced legal and medical scrutiny for their AFFF. Allegations have been raised stating that the companies had sufficient knowledge that their foam was hazardous, but failed to take proper action, thereby failing to protect our firefighters.
If you have developed cancer due to AFFF exposure, you deserve compensation for your and your family’s suffering. We are here to help and will fight to obtain the compensation you rightfully deserve. Contact The People’s Lawyer for a free AFFF lawsuit consultation today.
